Check out this catch – This fish was hauled in by Debra Milani, a 4 foot 6 inch Roosterfish. “My Certificate from the IGFA, says Congratulations on a great Catch, weighing 120 pounds. It was caught in Costa Rica off Tamarindo. We were fishing at the Catalina Islands. It was a struggle to bring him in, get him aboard for a photo, measure him and put him gently back into the water. I couldn’t hold it up as I am only 5 foot 1 inch tall. My husband, Stu Greenberg , is on the right side and weighs 200 pounds. He is 6 feet tall. The vessel, “The Salsa”. Fishing with Captain Maikel Rodriquez.
It unofficial by IGFA standards because the Costa Rican deep sea fishing company that we used didn’t have an IGFA weighing apparatus aboard. IGFA sent me a “Great Catch Certificate”, that says Congratulations on your 120 pound Roosterfish. We were able to measure the length and it was 4 feet , 6 inches long. Beating the record by 4 inches. So I know that the record is 114 pounds and 4 feet, 2 inches ! That is so exciting ! I think the boat captain was a little skittish on giving away his secret spot. That’s ok, fish swim and move around. We released my Roosterfish unharmed and that is always my goal.
