A man has caught a 12 ft shark after an epic battle with the beast that nearly sank his boat. Ryan Spring of San Antonio, Texas, hooked the 809 lbs tiger shark while fishing in the gulf of Mexico on Sunday. He said the massive shark was almost as big as his boat, and after biting his hook dragged Mr Spring’s vessel around the bay for 15 miles, nearly sinking it on several occasions. After finally overcoming the shark, he said it took 12 men to haul it onto the dock as it was so heavy. Mr Spring has said the meat will be donated to a local charity. Although this is the largest tiger shark caught in many years, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department say it does not break the record for the biggest tiger shark ever caught in the area, which weighed in at 1,129 lbs.
