You’re in the woods on a long, multi-day hunt. Maybe you’ve been hurt. Maybe you’re lost. Or maybe you just need to make a call to tell your family you’ll be late for dinner.
But your cell phone and GPS devices are dead. What are you going to do? That’s where the Powermonkey Extreme Solar Charger can be a trip, or even a life, saver.
A NWTF Product Review: For five straight nights, I relied on the Powermonkey Extreme Solar Charger, an enhanced version of the original Powermonkey charger, to charge my phone with stress-free success. The combination of relative light weight and sturdiness inspires comforting confidence.
The Powermonkey Extreme is tough enough to provide security from potential power outages. It’s powerful enough to charge your cell or smart phone as well as tablet computers, cameras and GPS devices even in cloudy conditions.
The 12v Powermonkey Extreme, which comes in five colors, has a massive capacity 900mAh Lithium Polymer battery and a compact shell. It can charge most 5Volt devices, including an iPhone six times and a standard cell phone as many as 12 times.
It’s also easy to carry to those remote places where you need it most. It travel or storage case with a Velcro straps attach to almost anything. Waterproof (30 minutes up to one meter) and durable it can take a fall.
I have just one warning: read the instructions about turning the charger on and off. The sliding panel can be confusing for hunters used to pushing buttons or pulling switches.
The Extreme Powermonkey Extreme comes with charging tips for the latest major phone brands and charges Apple products. The Powermonkey Extreme can be recharged via solar panel, universal mains charger or USB. In 6 to 8 hours of good sunshine, you will get one third of a charge on the battery unit. You can even use it while you charge it.
Overall, I give the Powermonkey Extreme Solar Charger two thumbs up.
