Bassmaster Media Honored

b.a.s.s. logoBassmaster Magazine and Bassmaster.com both won prestigious Eddie awards from Folio, an organization that recognizes editorial excellence within the magazine industry. The awards were presented at the Grand Hyatt in New York Dec. 5, and both platforms were announced as finalists in their respective divisions among more than 2,300 entries.

Bassmaster.com won a Digital Eddie for best website in the Association category, garnering more votes than the websites of National Geographic Traveler and Smart+Strong, which were runners-up in the division.

The website won for its live coverage of Bassmaster Tournament Trail events, how-to articles, videos and overall site architecture. Bassmaster.com receives 15 million page views monthly and is the largest website dedicated to bass fishing.

“It’s gratifying to be recognized by the broader media industry,” said Jim Sexton, editor of Bassmaster.com. “We know that folks in the outdoor industry respect Bassmaster.com, but it’s particularly exciting to win recognition over these national brands.”

Bassmaster Magazine was first runner-up in the “Full Issue” category, outscoring National Geographic Traveler, AAA Living and others. American Craft won the division.
Judges considered the September/October 2013 issue on the basis of editorial excellence overall. Bassmaster, which serves 3.2 million readers, was the only fishing title winning an Eddie award in any print category.

“Our goal is not just to make a great fishing magazine, but instead to produce a magazine that’s equal to or better than the most decorated magazines of any genre,” said Bassmaster Magazine Editor James Hall. “This award proves that our writers, photographers and illustrators are some of the best in the magazine business, and we are proud to display their talents within the pages of Bassmaster.”
