‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the boat, The angler was looking for a lure, that would float, No floater was there, but he found a jighead, He quickly decided to use it instead…..He added a paddle tail shiny and bright, Hoping he soon would be in a fish fight, The Indian River was just a short way,The angler had the day off and now he would play…..A delicate cast landed so near the prey, But it needed to be closer to where the snook lay, The angler spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, He tempted the snook with a quick little jerk, A twitch of the wrist and a wind of the reel, A gentle hook set would now seal the deal…..The water erupted, the angler was sprayed, It was coming together just like he had prayed, The line became tight, the drag was now screaming, The snook headed south, you know it was scheming, The mangroves were close and could cause a tangle…..But the angler held on and changed the fight angle, Now with the fish out in the clear, The end of the fight was coming quite near, Out of the kayak he came with a bound, The snook on his line had now turned around, A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Let everyone know there was nothing to dread, The snook was now tiring and ending the fight…..The jolly old angler exclaimed, “what a sight”, The camera was focused, a picture was taken, Proof of his trophy would not be mistaken, And then the release after resuscitation, The snook took off swimming without hesitation, Then back in the kayak he climbed with a smile, Knowing he had one more snook for his file, The angler exclaimed as it swam out of sight
“Happy Christmas to all and to all a good fight”
