Calling All Anglers, Help Prevent a Soft Bait Ban

Keep America FishingUnless anglers like you make a stand, recreational fishing in the state of Maine may never be the same again. Right now, the state legislature is considering taking unprecedented action that will severely impact how you and your family and friends are able to go fishing. Last year, the Maine Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife ordered the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to study the effects of soft baits and non-degradable hooks on fish and other wildlife. The findings, which could ultimately lead to severe restrictions on the sale and use of these types of tackle, will be presented to the legislature on January 28.

KeepAmericaFishing™ is asking you and your family and friends to attend the committee meeting to express your concerns about this potential ban on soft baits.

When: Tuesday, January 28, 2:00 PM

Where: Room 206, Cross State Office Building (beside the State House) Augusta, Maine

Legislators need to know that Maine’s citizens have serious concerns about this issue, which is really an outright attack on recreational fishing. By considering a ban on soft baits – one of the most common types of fishing lures used by anglers – the legislature is starting down a very slippery slope that could lead to bans on any and all types of fishing tackle.

Show your support by attending the January 28 committee meeting and speaking out against an action that would restrict your ability to use soft baits. Please forward this message along to friends, family or colleagues!

Do your part to save Maine’s recreational fishing heritage!
