Release Reels unveils the long awaited SM

USA Reel Manufacturer Release Reels, is proud to announce the arrival of SM (Star drag Magnetically controlled conventional casting reel). SM (previously known as SURF) started as an idea of how to improve the cast- ability of the popular SG lever drag reel for our surf fishermen friends,

but that idea morphed into something far more creative and a great addition to our line.

The unique design of the SM allows for the reel to cast a comfortable 150-200 yards while the carbon and stainless steel drag system provides a solid, smooth and consistent drag. Backing up that drag is a set of gears that has no rival in the industry! Adding to the fishability of this powerful reel is its light weight, ergonomics and fast retrieval speed – backed up with plenty of torque and power to fight any fish.

The SM “Is the perfect tool for getting the lure or bait out to where the fish are!” said Ryan “Hatteras Jack” White – the Master Class Caster,and internationally known reel technician and rod builder.

“The SM was designed from the ground up to be a performance distance casting reel, plus it also has all of the fish fighting elements we know how to make.” said Wes Seigler, Release Reels’ President and designer. “Ryan and I sat down together and we went through all of the major distance casting reels and took the best of every reel and incorporated them into the design. The big ‘ah-ha moment’ for me was when I figured out how to design the foot and side plates so that cross bars were no longer necessary.”

The SM features an innovative and completely open design which gives you unencumbered access to the spool.

SM is a fully machined aluminum reel featuring all of the elements you would expect in a top shelf product.
