CAST Crew, a hard-core group of Chicago-based anglers with a mission to take fishing from a pastime to a lifestyle, joins Mike Iaconelli on the “Urban Fishing Special” of Ike Live!, Sunday, December 6 at 6:00 pm ET, live-streaming at MikeIaconelli.com. (Note the earlier start time.) CAST Crew mixes fishing with street culture, music, fashion, and lots of creativity for a full body-mind-soul experience. They fish from concrete shorelines, traffic buzzing in the background, mixtapes playing in their ears and GoPros recording the reel-to-bass combat. They design their own sportswear and promote the urban fishing movement across the U.S. This ain’t your grandpa’s day on the lake!
“These people didn’t learn fishing at their father’s side. They saw it on TV and online, and started casting right off the Navy Pier in Chicago,” said Iaconelli. “For them, it’s a new sport, and for the fishing world, it’s a new audience.”
How did it all start and where is it heading? Mike delves into that with the Cast Crew members who join him, live, in the studio for an in-depth conversation on the newest fishing edge.

About CAST Crew
CAST Crew is a team, brand and lifestyle company breaking the stereotypes of the typical fisherman. It was founded in 2011 by Johnny ‘J-ro’ Rodas, Wendel ‘Del’ Caberto, Vince ‘Stizo’ Wasseluk and Ray ‘StayNice’ Quijano.
After creating fishing music videos on YouTube, creating urban clothing to express themselves was the logical next step. “There weren’t too many options for ‘cool’ clothing for anglers to wear at the major retail stores, so we decided to make our own” said Ray Quijano/Co-Founder. With the videos and apparel stemmed the CAST Nation, B.A.S.S. Nation fishing club.
CAST Crew is changing the fishing industry with their ethical urban angling lifestyle and attracting a new generation of anglers to the fishing industry.
About Mike “Ike” Iaconelli
A South Philadelphia native now living in South Jersey, Mike Iaconelli fell in love with fishing at his grandfather’s side in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. He began fishing in tournaments after high school, joined the pro-am circuit in 1992 and turned pro in 2000. In 2003, he won the Bassmaster Classic. He is the only angler to win the Bassmaster Classic, Bassmaster Angler of the Year and B.A.S.S. Nation Championship.
He and wife Becky run The Ike Foundation®, which provides fishing equipment to youth fishing clubs to “get kids fishing.” In addition, he and fellow fishing champ Pete Gluszek run The Bass University, which offers intense 2-day fishing classes and on-the-water experiences that bring avid amateurs and professional fishermen together.
