National Rifle Association of America, Institute For Legislative ActionKansas: Right to Hunt and Fish Constitutional Amendment Passes out of House – Today, the Kansas House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 5008 by a resounding 117-7 vote. Maine: Shooting Range Protection Legislation to be Considered Tomorrow – On Tuesday, February 23, the Joint Committee on the Judiciary will hold a public hearing for Legislative Document 1500, legislation which would protect and promote access to shooting ranges.  The committee hearing will be held in State House Room 438 at 3:00pm.  If you are available, please consider attending this hearing to voice your support for LD 1500.  Also, please contact the members of the Joint Committee on Judiciary and politely urge them to SUPPORT LD 1500.

West Virginia Permitless Carry Legislation Passes Senate with Bipartisan Support
Today, Monday, February 22, House Bill 4145, NRA-endorsed legislation that would allow an individual to lawfully carry a concealed handgun without a permit, passed the state Senate with a bipartisan 24-9 vote. HB 4145 will now be sent back to the House of Delegates for a concurrence vote. Please CONTACT YOUR DELEGATE immediately and politely urge them to concur with the amended Senate version of House Bill 4145.

Bill seeks to ease suppressor requirements
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.), was referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations on November 11. The measure seeks to amend the Internal Revenue code to remove a $200 transfer tax on the purchase of silencers and “treat any person who acquires or possesses a firearm silencer as meeting any registration or licensing requirements of the National Firearms Act.”
