Rudolph the Red Nose Rifle

Rudolph the Red Nose Rifle The Henry Rifle Company sent me two fine rifles for the season, I have been bragging about them ever since. The 45-70 was sent specifically due to our large Wild Boars that inhabit about every where you walk in the woods in Louisiana. They will charge and can hurt you, trust me I’ve been there.

Then there was the little Lever action 22. I really like the octagon barrel and the look of the old west. I asked for a steel rifle not a show gun in both the 45-70 and the 22. They were to be hunters and they both wanted to hunt as much as I do.

A Bushnell 3×9 scope filled out the 45-70 and it was just plain accurate. No Boar will get me packing this Bad Boy. I kept iron sights on the 22 although a scope would give it a little more range on squirrels and I may do that later.

Now we all know that Henry makes good looking guns no matter what the design. I was having so much fun shooting the 22 I didn’t realize I had something special and very well a little Christmas magic along the way. The rifle most certainly had a red for end quite different from the buttstock which was somewhat lighter colored. I know they use Missouri walnut but this one really had a red nose.

Now you might not know it but my birthday is Christmas Day so I woke early Christmas morning to tell you the Elves in Santa’s Gun Shop in Bayonne New Jersey must have been scratching their heads on how this two tone rifle came off the line with a Red Nose.Rudolph the Red Nose Rifle

Perhaps they wrapped it up quickly so Santa wouldn’t see and sent it to that guy down in Louisiana that thinks he knows something about 22s, but no body every heard of him. Little did they know Uncle John is a world champ.

With a little tapping here and there and the addition of some good target ammo, Rudolph the Red Nose Henry Rifle started to gain fame as an older Uncle John got his iron sight shooting eye back and reintroduced his signature “Smiley Face” shooting art. I think Santa sprinkled a little magic dust on it as it certainly reminded him of the first Rudolph story.

Come to think of it not only is Rudolph one of a kind its lucky too. I think I will put on my Cowboy Hat and get my picture taken with it. There are lots of Henry Rifles, but none like this one and its mine, Merry Christmas and….Pass it on,
