From the Donut Shop#4, Glock Handguns

From the Donut Shop#4“I ain’t got much use for hand shooters.” We all remember Mathew Quigley’s famous catch phrase. Of course he knew how to use one. I never had much use for my 1911 Colt 45 either but Uncle Sam kept me very proficient with it for 20 years in the Army Military Police. Since 1858 you could open carry in Louisiana, so when you see someone wearing their hand gun openly in Wally World it’s no big deal. When I open carry I dress well and go about my business. The only comments I ever get it, “Wow, that’s a cool pistol where can I get one?” “Is it a Glock?”

No, not a Glock, its my personal choice, for better or worse it’s an FNX-40. I like it, it goes everywhere with me or is very close by. Muddy Girl says its too big for her, but she shoots it well even though she is just 4 feet 10. For Christmas she got a Ruger LC9 and now she is happy its in Muddy Girl of course.

We have a 25 yard test range in the back yard so we can stay in practice.

Is there a need in my life for a handgun? It doesn’t really matter, but I think so. I encounter an outlaw about every 90 days around where I live, its just the way it is and its getting worse. Drugs are a way of life in my state, and its rampart in all walks of life. But not in my family. It would take the police 15 to 30 minutes to get here, and there are dangerous animals around too, including Boars and Bears.

The outlaws and human narcotic incinerators will test your home and you in a subtle way. They will ask for a hand out, or want to do some dirty job around your house so they can case the place. When I subtly talk to them while wearing my FN, for some reason I wind up doing the job myself, that’s how you know who your dealing with.

In the normal places I go I always ask permission if its OK to open carry even though its quite legal I see it as good manners and have never been refused. It seems they like a little responsibility around just in case. I’m not looking for trouble I just don’t want to become a victim, that would be embarrassing for me. I’m not trying to make a political statement, I know the law and that’s about it…Pass it on.
