ATTORNEYS GENERAL DEFEND SECOND AMENDMENT IN KOLBE V. HOGAN … Twenty-one state Attorneys General, led by West Virginia’s Patrick Morrissey, have filed a joint “friends of the court” brief supporting the petition of the U.S. Supreme Court by plaintiffs, including NSSF, to take up Kolbe v. Hogan, the case in which the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals decided Maryland could ban semi-automatic modern sporting rifles.

- The California Department of Justice is accepting comments on proposed “Ammunition Vendor Licensing” regulations, holding a Sept. 12 hearing at 10 a.m. at the Resources Building Auditorium (1416 9th Street, Sacramento). The regulations require those selling more than 500 rounds of ammunition a year to obtain a license. Those on the Centralized List of Firearms Dealers are exempt.
- Washington, D.C., Attorney General Karl Racine filed a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia for a full court hearing after a three-judge panel struck down the District’s restrictive concealed carry permit rules. Metropolitan Police have granted only 126 concealed carry permits as of July.
