My name is Jim Ahonen, I live in the community of Riverview. As a lifelong resident of Detroit’s Downriver Area, I grew up fishing for walleye. Over the years I have honed my skills jigging and trolling on Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie’s Western Basin.
I also am an active member of the Downriver Walleye Federation. And very active on Facebook with my blog page called ” Walleye connection.”
Personally I am family and community orientated. My wife and I have been married for seven years, we have a four year old daughter, and are currently expecting our second child. As a member of the Downriver Walleye Federation, the Midwest’s premier group dedicated to walleye fishing, our club strives to get future generations involved in the sport.
I work to improve my walleye fishing skills through competition, which I believe is the ultimate classroom. I began fishing Bass Pro Shop’s Greater North tournament series. Then on a regular basis started fishing on the Michigan Walleye Tour and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit. To keep in practice under tourney conditions I participate in several local tournaments, as well as the club’s events throughout the season.
