Tonight I decided to take Pepper out and do a little fishing for a very short time. The poor little guy has been taking water pills, and shut up all day while I’ve been at my conservation job, so thought it would get him a little outdoor time. As always he liked it, and especially when I hooked the fish. Naturally he had his dachshund nose in the way, as normal.
Fishing was extremely tough. The only hits came on a Blakemore Casey’s Runner Head with BFishn Tackle AuthentX Ribb Finn, and a black/blue fleck Natural Forage Baits RT7 (ribbon tail worm), rigged on a XPoint worm hook. The only positive hit was one bass on the RT7, which the XPoint did its job in hooking well enough in the mouth, that even after 2 good jumps the fish didn’t through it.
The best retrieve was to lift the worm slowly until it cleared weeds, and then drop it. Sort of like bringing it slowly over wood structure.
Pepper was pooped enough that he was ready to get back in his pet carrier, that sets on the Petdek, a few minutes before I wrapped it up for the evening. Now he is stretched out on his sleeping bag and dreaming about his fishing trip.
Until next time, get out on the water and have a great day of fishing.
