A Waianae pig hunter pled no contest to three counts of animal cruelty Wednesday. Franklin dela Cruz was shown in a video posted on Facebook, training his dogs to attack a pig that was enclosed in a pen. Portions of that video are included in the story, and some may find the images disturbing. Described by animal rights groups as horrific and amounting to torture, the video shows two dogs going after the pig while men as well as teenaged boys cheer the dogs on. “If you watch the video they were very proud of what was going on and that’s the really sad and unfortunate part. We value all animal’s lives and and dogs are meant to be companion animals,” said Keoni Vaughn, Hawaiian Humane Society. Read more….
