This evening I decided to do some experimenting with the Umarex USA, Inc. NXG, and have come to the conclusion that it is one of the best affordable, pick-me-up-and-shoot, air rifles that I have encountered.
I can’t remember at what range I originally sighted in the OTW Red Dot scope, but it hit every target (cardboard toilet paper roll inserts) in about 50 or 60 rounds, from 12, 15 and 25 yards.
To set the dot on the 1×30 scope I used only the first intensity of red (also has green), which makes a much smaller dot.
The next experiment was to use BBs with 3 pumps at the maximum, dropping it to 2, and finally 1. At 3 and 2 the BBs were knocking over the targets, but with 1 it hit the mark, but didn’t knock the insert over, so I went back to 2, which is probably around 160 fps since 10 pumps is 800 fps.
Yes, this is a much cheaper, affordable rifle, but a great one to start out anyone in the sport of target shooting. Not to mention, it is great to grab to do a little quick backyard plinking, without a lot of noise, especially when using it with low pumps.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Umarex NXG, it is a multi-pump air rifle that will shoot BBs and pellets. It has a front fiber optic sight, or scope that will fit on the Picatinny rail that comes molded into the gun’s polymer stock.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.
This is my review on the Gamo Outdoor USA Accu 177.
