Soon I’ll be trying what many people say is the best semi-auto 22 rifle built. It is Ruger’s 10/22. I’ve opted for the Compact 1168 model, which has fiber optic sights, and is 34″ long. I’m anxious to try this rifle and see if everyone is correct.
I’ve also been hearing a lot of differences in what people think is the best ammo to use. Well, that will be another test I’ll be running.
So stay tuned for further information and reviews on the Ruger 10/22 Compact.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.

I found a nice surprise at my doorstep today from Federal Premium ammunition. In the box was Load No. 729 (1200 fps, 40 gr LRN); No. 719 (1200 fps, 40 gr, Hunter Match); and No. 710 (1240 fps, 40 gr., Game-Shok). I’ve been using all of these with relatively high success rates, especially the Hunter Match 719.
In the past I have had good results using them in the Browning Buck Mark and 1911-22; American Tactical Firefly and M1911; Heritage Firearms Rough Rider; and with all of my Henry Repeating Arms lever action rifles.
So, we may be having a few more comparisons, as well as testing them with some of the other ideas that will pop up. Anyway, I’ve got some good ammo to combine with my CCI, ELEY USA, and Aguila Ammunition.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.
