WXYZ.COM reported 1st: A sinkhole in Detroit has turned into a fishing hole on Hull Street and McNichols. People who live nearby say after about four years of dealing with the hole, they decided to turn it into something they could enjoy. Residents started putting fish into the sinkhole. Now, the fish have multiplied. They have blue gill, goldfish, and carp.
“We like our fish, but honestly we’d like the road fixed,” said one neighbor named Pete Bolden
7 Action News is fishing for answers as to why the road went so long without repair.
Neighbors say the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department started work on the hole and dug up the road. However, crews didn’t finish the work.
The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department says it has no record of the work being done and no record of calls to have it addressed.
Neighbors insist they called last in the winter when it froze over and became extra dangerous.
The water department crews say markings on the road indicate a utility company started work there. Seven Action News called Detroit Edison. The utility company says it will send a crew out to investigate. Link to the video report from wxyz – http://www.wxyz.com/news/sinkhole-in-detroit-turns-into-a-fishing-hole
