Sort of a strange fishing report this time around. The day did not start off well. I had planned on Pepper and me heading out in the Ranger. However, a lot was going wrong with Pepper, so everything was busy with the vet. He has all sorts of things going on. At the moment he is taking water and pain pills. More tests will be run in two weeks to see how he is responding. At the moment everything is a separate problem that all hit at once – heart, bad right leg and urinary area. In one day he went from his bouncing around self, to lay around and whine or sleep.
We did manage to fish for a couple of hours. Richard Broadwell will like hearing that out of the 8 bass caught 6 were on the Perch Rat-L-Trap. However, the largest one landed came on a Berkley Fishing Power Grub with BFishn Tackle H20 Precision jig head, and the largest one lost hit a white Blitz Lures LLC Spyder jig with generic white twin tail grub.
There were several hits on the Blitz jig, but for some reason they were not having a solid strike.
The lake is still turning over, and worse than it has been during the past couple of times out. There are also several dead bass around. Earlier the crappie and bluegill were dead from some sort of bacteria – according to the DNR. So, perhaps the bass are starting the same. A few huge dead grass carp will also spotted during the panfish die off.
Until next time, get out on the water, and enjoy a great day of fishing.
