Shoot ‘N’ Plink By Dan Galusha – A few days ago I ordered some “quiet” 500 fps Aguila Ammunition through Outdoor Limited, and had unbelievably fast shipment. Tonight I fired 5 rounds from a Henry Mare’s Leg. The first round was very loud. It is said to be quieter than a pellet gun. Well, so far the 5 rounds that I shot were much louder than the pellet and BB guns I’ve been shooting.
The sound level seemed to vary from round to round, so I’m not sure if there is an inconsistency in the manufacturing, or what is up.
Next I’ll give 5 more rounds a try in my Frontier or Golden Boy to see if the longer rifles will be quieter. If not, I’m putting this stuff in storage, and going back to the pellets and BBs for the backyard.
I will say that the bullet did not travel through the trap box that I built, for BB/pellet shooting, with carpeting, foam padding and injected foam packing. This is a big plus, as it never got a chance to hit the backing boards and the final stop of bricks.
I’ll be giving some more reports after the next shooting with Aguila Ammunition‘s quiet (or not so quiet) 22 LR ammo.
