I’ve been working with my AKASO Brave 4 action cam, and to my surprise I found that the remote control can take still photos at the same time that the unit is filming video. This is great if you are wanting to take a photo, such as I’ve done when filming some of my Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® videos. I’ve had to stop and take the photo then continue, but with this I can snap the photo and keep on going. That is if I can figure out a way to extend the battery life and improve the sound. So far I’ve been able to increase the volume on the audio in my editing software, which has worked well. The last video that I used it for was on a gun barrel, which can be seen on my You Tube channel, or by going to the Shoot ‘N’ Plink™ FB page.
Some of these units can film video or take photos, but not both at the same time. I’m sure the other AKASO models can do the same.
Their instruction manual don’t cover all of the little features of this camera, which makes it difficult to figure it out, but at least the things that are being found are on the good side.
Another hidden feature is the ability of deleting photos/videos within the camera by holding on the up/down buttons for a couple of seconds for it to give you the option.
I also decided to hook the USB cable to the computer to see how it would work as being recognized as a storage device. Well, I found another feature. It offers you an option of checking the storage on the units flash card, or switching to use it as a webcam.
Next I decided to plug the USB into a wall adaptor to see how it does with power. Again, it will charge the battery through the camera as well as the external charger, and will also allow you to use the power to run the camera if needed. More good features.
Best of all, the quality on this camera has been exceptionally good. I’ll be taking some still outside and posting those next to see how they look.
More to come.
