Alaska Governor’s Permits On Auction Block

safari club internationalFor the first time ever, Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) will be hosting an online auction to sell highly prized Alaska Governor’s Permits. There are two big game tags available. The first tag is an opportunity to hunt a Kenai Mountains caribou (Barren Ground). The second Alaska tag is for the chance to hunt a free-ranging Plains bison from the coveted Delta bison Herd.

The auction will take place during summer 2013 for trips to follow this coming 2013 hunting season. Don’t miss this chance to bid for the hunt of a lifetime while contributing to conservation in the great state of Alaska!

SCI Foundation is proud to work with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game to offer these unique licenses to serious Hunter Conservationists. Funds generated will be used in the management of the respective species for the enjoyment of future generations.

Here is an extremely rare chance to get your hand on an Alaskan Delta bison tag. This tag gives you the opportunity to hunt this herd from October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. Method of take is rifle, muzzleloader or bow. The Delta bison herd is approximately 370 animals, with 56 bulls for every 100 cows. Recent hunters’ success has been 60 to 70%. This tag will allow you to hunt the Delta bison herd during the open dates until a bison has been harvested. The Delta herd is present on public, private and military land during the season. Permission must be obtained from landowners to hunt private land and must have a Recreation Access Permit to access military land. Hunter must complete a hunter orientation either online through the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website or in person at the Delta Area Office and the certificate of completion must be carried during the hunt. In-person orientation for the 2013 to 2014 season are Sept. 30, Oct. 4,11,17, Oct. 25, and Nov. 1. Weapons and ammunition restrictions apply; consult Alaska Department of Game and Fish for details. This is an auction for a tag only; no accommodations, meals, outfitting arrangements, licenses, etc. are included, and all further costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Caribou-060713Kenai Mountains Alaskan Barren Ground Caribou

Here is an outstanding opportunity to hunt the Kenai Mountains of Alaska for barren ground caribou. Funds generated from the purchase will be used for on-the-ground wildlife conservation efforts by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Method of take is rifle. The hunt area can be accessed by foot from the Sterling Highway, Seward Highway, or Palmer Creek Road in Hope. The season is open from August 13, 2013 to December 31, 2013. Early in the season caribou are dispersed in small groups throughout the hunt area. With the onset of the rut in mid to late September, the caribou generally congregate near the headwaters of Big Indian Creek and around American Pass. These areas are a 10+ mile hike from a road, so hiring a horse packer may is advised. Snowfall starts as early as late September, but usually holds off until late October. This auction is for a hunting tag only; no accommodations, meals, outfitting arrangements, licenses, etc. are included and all further costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
