There have been rumblings during the past few years of a new Mexican bass fishing lake opening up near Mazatlan. Everything anglers are hearing is true and Lake Picachos lives up to the billing. The lake is just now turning on, and Anglers Inn is primed to begin booking clients on a body of water that is only 55 minutes from Mazatlan.
The 14,000-acre irrigation and supply lake is only five years old, which is ideal for plucking 10- to 12-pound bass from. Plus, this fishery is cooperatively owned, meaning that the fishing is well regulated and managed. Boats are reporting 100-fish day with big fish up to 12 pounds being caught.
Most lakes in Mexico are ran and regulated by the government. However, the mayor and the local ownership cooperative of Puerta de San Marcos protect Lake Picachos.
Commercial netters are allowed on Picachos, but nets must be gone by April 1 instead of the state mandated May 1. The local fishing co-operative also falls under the mayor’s rule so he has the power to close the season early and turn the lake over to visiting sportfishermen. Currently there is no legal harvest of bass, and there is a check station to make sure anglers are in accordance to the laws of the lake. This applies to all recreation fishermen.
This lake is a hot ticket right now and the best is yet to come. Check for yourself at www.anglersinn.com and http://www.anglersinn.tv for current fishing reports. It started with Billy Chapman Jr., owner and founder of Anglers Inn International and friends fishing it to make sure it was right. Once everyone heard Billy Chapman Jr. was involved everyone started clamoring to be part of the action.
This year we will have Abu Garcia Veritas rods paired with Abu Garcia Revo SX reels for anglers to check out. With airline regulations getting tighter, rods become difficult to check through various airlines. Anglers Inn has the perfect actions and even some left-handed reels to suit any need.
Bookings are coming in fast for the 2014-2015 Season because of the great fishing we had the last few months. So if you are planning a trip to El Salto or new Lake Picachos, give us a call at 1-800-468-2347 to reserve your preferred dates.
Come down and experience the “Anglers Inn Way”!
