Arctic Ice Cooler Packs

Artic IceBefore there were rugged ice substitute cooler packs everyone used ice or blue gel products. The results were normally disappointing because ice or blue gel products were inadequate at keep food or drinks cool for any long periods of time even in the best built cooler. Then along came a new company, Arctic Ice that had designed a new product of ice substitute cooler packs able to keep low temperatures for long periods at a time. It’s the active ingredient that really separates Arctic Ice (www.arctic-ice.com) from other ice substitute cooler packs. Arctic Ice uses a plant-oil derived phase-change material. For anglers, having a non-toxic, reusable and biodegradable product is a great option when it comes to selection. Arctic Ice inserts aren’t built from alcohol or petroleum products like other ice substitute cooler packs.

Arctic Ice is available in three different models

Alaskan Series is designed to freeze at 1°C/33.8°F and keep drinks or food cold for longer periods of time compared to the same volume of ice.

Arctic Ice™ Tundra Series is designed to freeze at -15°C/+5°f and stay at freezing temperatures until it thaws. Due to the active ingredient it’s recommended that the Tundra Series be frozen for 36 hours at the lowest temperature possible. When fully charged, the Tundra Series will change from a purple interior to white.

Chillin’ Brew panels are designed to keep your beverages colder than ice. It’s the perfect solution instead of ice when it comes to keeping your bottles and cans of drinks cold.

All three Arctic Ice models have some of the same features:

*Re-usable
*Durable
*Available in several sizes including small, medium, large and extra large
*Non-toxic
*Biodegradable

Recommendations for selecting the correct Arctic Ice:

Personal cooler-1 or 2 small panels or 1 medium panel
Small 15- to 25-quart-2 or 4 medium panels or 2 large panels
Medium 30- to 50-quart cooler-2 up to 6 extra large panels
Large 60- to 100-quart cooler-4 to 8 extra large panels

The four different sizes can be used to keep everything from lunch boxes, mini-coolers, small, medium and large coolers for extended periods of time. How many panels used should equal the amount of dry ice or ice in weight you would normally use.

One thing that Arctic Ice did point out was that Alaskan Series and Tundra Series perform a specific task. Don’t think that just because the Tundra Series works great for frozen food it will keep refrigerated food and drinks cold for longer periods of time. The Tundra was designed for frozen foods and placing warmer food and drinks will make it melt more quickly so the Alaskan Series is a better choice.

Other tips for keeping food or drinks cold or frozen:

*Place one panel on the bottom and one on top
*Use as many panels as possible
*Don’t open the lid
*Fill up all the open space inside the cooler

Another thing that will keep your food and drinks either cold or frozen is to use a high quality cooler like the Yukon Cold Locker (www.yukoncoldlockers.com). The Yukon Cold Locker features an exclusive MaxCold thermal barrier that’s thicker with no gaps, thin spots or seams that would let the cold leak out. It also has a heavy duty, leak proof compress gasket seals that lock in cold and keeps the heat out.

Of course it doesn’t matter what you are doing in the great outdoors there is an Arctic Ice product just right for you. The best part is by using the panels you don’t have to buy ice every time you go out fishing, hunting or camping. Just put them in the freezer a couple nights before you go.

Besides Arctic Ice panels being great products, the fact that the panels are made with non-toxic, biodegradable material and reusable makes them a wise choice for anglers, hunters or anyone wanting to reduce waste created by producing and deposing plastic bags used to hold ice in.
