A couple of weeks ago we tore out an old foot bridge with 6×6 beams that were cut up and scrapped. I salvaged them and made a new backyard backboard for airguns.
This evening I used it for the first time with a Umarex USA, Inc. NXG multi-pump teamed with a OTW Red Dot scope, which I fired with 2 to 3 pumps. The Red Dot was right on target without a miss at 10 meters and 15 yards. With the lower amount of pumps it was firing at around 200 fps, but still on the mark 100% of the time.
For $13 it is unbelievable how well the OTW scope has worked. Plus, even being called a Red Dot, it also has green. I used it most of the time at the first intensity setting, but raised it to two for just a little better sighting. It will increase to 5, but that would have been overkill. It is a great sighting device for paper targets or plinking as I was doing tonight with the cardboard toilet paper roll inserts that are some of my favorite for airguns.
I was shooting Crosman Copperhead BBs, but I would not have fired them directly at the backboard, as there would have definitely been a ricochete or two. While this fact has been preached many times – never fire BBs at a hard surface.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.
