When Dennis Creech answered his telephone and was told he had won a Triton X-17 bass boat, trailer and 60-horsepower Mercury outboard, the 75-year-old Texan wondered, “What kind of a scam is this?” When he learned the prize was from a Bassmaster.com sweepstakes, his skepticism vanished, but the feeling of surprise remained. “I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I’m still in shock. The biggest thing I’ve ever won before was probably a bass club raffle.”
Creech is a member of the River City Bass Club in Georgetown and loves fishing all over the Lone Star State, including Falcon, Amistad, Choke Canyon, Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn.
In the last year, B.A.S.S. has given away numerous sweepstakes prizes, including the Triton X-17, a 2014 Toyota Truck and all-expenses-paid fishing trips with Bassmaster Elite Series pros Skeet Reese, Michael Iaconelli, Gerald Swindle and Brandon Palaniuk.
Next on the giveaway list is the Bassmaster Reelin’ & Racing Sweepstakes presented by Nationwide Insurance, a prize that will appeal to those who love bass fishing and stock car racing.
The winner and a friend of his or her choosing will receive round-trip airfare to Birmingham, Ala. — B.A.S.S. headquarters — along with a three-night hotel stay, a rental car and $500 in spending money. The festivities begin on Sunday, Oct. 19, with a VIP experience at a major stock car race in nearby Talladega.
>From there it only gets better. After the race, the winner will want a good night’s sleep because on Sunday, Oct. 20, it’s time to go fishing with 2013 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Aaron Martens while his or her guest fishes with a member of the B.A.S.S. editorial staff.
It’s the fishing and racing experience of a lifetime, valued at $4,995. The Bassmaster Reelin’ & Racing Sweepstakes presented by Nationwide Insurance runs through March 31. The winner will be drawn on April 7, 2014. For more information and to sign up, visit Bassmaster.com
