Pepper and I went fishing last week before the snow at a couple of lakes as we do weekly. The ice was going back out, so we had plenty of open water. We were zeroed out the day before, but on this day one of the lakes was at the Rock Island Conservation Club, and we managed to catch some small crappie and bluegill. No fish were worth photos.
Nothing was hitting until I switched to a Custom Jigs & Spins lime glow Ratfinkee with a chartreuse Crappie Nibble. This was fished under a float at about 5 to 6 feet on the deep side of submerged brush. A dose of Kick’n Bass Fish Attractants Crappie scent was also used. In fact, the only fish and hits, of which I had quite a few, came after the Kick’n Crappie was applied.
All hits were very light with only slight movement of the float, which made it very difficult to detect whenever there was any sort of wave action.
Until next time, get out on the water and have a great day of fishing.
