We have our share of epic annual events. Topping that list might be the Big Easy’s Mardi Gras, replete with its audacious parade, Fat Tuesday and famously naughty beads. Marching north of the Creole and Zydeco to the Ice Belt, there’s another yearly ritual that finds its beads on dropper-rigs and fish fries on Fridays.
It, as the name has reverberated for over a decade of winters, is called the Bro Road Show. THE Bro in this show is none other than Brian “Bro” Brosdahl. He, like the Mardi Gras floats, go on annual parade; but this frosted figure takes his show to wintertime towns from the Dakotas far east to the icy inland reaches of the north Atlantic.
Not selling snake oils, but rather introducing new products and reaffirming established models, Bro carries an array of Frabill ice-fishing goods for this show-and-tell pilgrimage. Highlighted on this tour will be positively productive gear like the new 261 Straight Line Combos and Reels, which Bro lent a heavy hand in designing. The 261 reel offers a stunning 2.6 to 1 retrieval ratio, making it the MVP straight line reel in a category Frabill masterminded.
Not side-stepping even tough ice-fishing questions, Bro will also be showcasing Frabill’s ingenious new SideStep Entry™ portable ice fishing shelters. Spruced up with Fishouflage® pattern accenting, the Thermal Ambush DLX, Ambush DLX and Ambush are pegged to be this winter’s hottest shacks.
Beyond the cornucopia of radical ice-fishing products, what makes the Bro Road Show so popular is, to be quite honest… Bro. Once described as a “giant living cartoon character,” Bro is as down-to-earth as a sandbox and approachable as a teddy bear before and after seminars, quick to reveal his most recent stealth riggings as well as decipher the colors on a Humminbird sonar; contours of a LakeMaster map; and tell ‘good’ weeds from the ‘bad’ on an Aqua-Vu underwater camera.
No promises, but if you ask, Bro might reach in his pocket and gift you with his namesake Bro Bug, too…
Bro’s 100-day ice-fishing junket includes numerous scheduled stops for seminars and meet and greets, most gigs at premium retail outlets. Check Bro’s schedule, match it to yours, and cancel everything on your dance card if the dates don’t jive. He’s worth it…

In 1952, Plano introduced the first molded plastic tackle box. For the next fifty years, the Plano brand found its way into the hearts and hands of four generations. Today, there’s a 4 in 5 chance that if you own a tackle box, it was made by Plano. There are many reasons why consumers choose Plano, including quality, durability and innovation, but our favorite is “It’s what my dad always used.”
