NSSF HUNTING HERITAGE GRANT PROGRAM OPEN … NSSF and Hunting Heritage Trust’s newly established million-dollar grant program is now open for application. Established in Oct. 2018 and funded equally by NSSF and the Hunting Heritage Trust, this first of its kind grant program works to support hunting and the shooting sports recruitment, retention and reactivation programs by funding proposed solutions.
MASS. AG’s FEDERAL SUIT APPEAL DISMISSED … A U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit panel dismissed an appeal by Mass. Attorney General Healey in a federal lawsuit brought by four firearms retailers and NSSF. “We are very pleased that the judges saw the total lack of merit in the appeal and, in a rare move, dismissed it on the very same day they heard oral arguments,” NSSF’s Larry Keane said in a press release.
SEN. FEINSTEIN’S ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN IS BACK … U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has introduced S. 66, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. Similar to previously introduced legislation she and others sponsored, it would ban modern sporting rifles based on cosmetic features and adds characteristics not previously listed. NSSF opposes the legislation.

- U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) hosted a press conference to introduced the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 to require background checks on all firearms transfers, including between family members. Similar legislation, S. 42, was introduced in the Senate. NSSF opposes the bills.
