Today I picked up two Crosman air rifles – Classic 2100X Wooden Stock BB/Pellet and Repeating 1077 Pellet. I also got 6 extra pellet clips for the 1077 and a 40 count box of CO2. All of this was through Walmart, yes Walmart, for $117.
Earlier in the day I built a back stop, which will be told about in a later post. So, I had to try out at least one of these units this evening, and selected the pump Classic 2100X. It comes with a scope, but I shot it free standing with open iron sights. The front sight is fiber optic and the rear is adjustable for windage and elevation.
The first few shots showed that there needed to be a little adjustment, so with a slight downward in elevation and left in windage, it went right to the center.
I was using an Olympic 10 meter airgun target, and shot at that distance. That target has an extremely small center ring.
I was very impressed with the accuracy, and look forward to trying the scope. I may replace it, or not use it at all, but want to try the OEM first to give a fair evaluation to people who are going to be using this complete kit.
As for ammo, the Hornady Black Diamond BBs were great. With pellets I used Crosman Premier wadcutter and pointed. The wadcutters were the least accurate of anything that I shot, so when it came to pellets I stuck to the pointed.
I had heard that with the 1077 model you have to use the wadcutters, as the pointed type will not as well – bummer. However, they seem to load correctly in the magazine, so I’m still going to try at least one magazine full. Hopefully it will shoot well with both.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.
