I was just sent an email from You Tube that my channel will no longer be a partner unless it can come up with 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of viewing. A lot of people view, but not all subscribe, and I’m not sure what they are wanting. That might knock a lot of the long timers out. I think it is a way to weed a lot of us out of You Tube and allow only the big companies and sponsored shows. I have neither, so as of February 20th, which is the deadline set by You Tube, the Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® Channel consisting of Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® and Shoot ‘N’ Plink™, via www.youtube.com/dansfishntales, will no longer be partnered with them.
THIS IS AN UPDATE to this original post regarding You Tube. I have no idea from where they are coming. I knew that I had a lot of viewers and minutes. In fact, looking in the backside I can see that in the last 28 days, the Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® You Tube channel has had over 33,000 minutes of viewing, and several thousands of viewers. The hours alone are over 8 times what is needed to stay a partner, so what is up? Of course, they want the 1,000 subscribers, but to me you would want people viewing more than subscribing.
Could it be, as a friend once said, “They are targeting those of us that are shooting” since I also have Shoot ‘N’ Plink By Dan Galusha. Maybe he is correct. I would like to know if Hickok45 and 22plinkster are having some of the same things since they are two of the most popular in the shooting end of things, and receive a hundred times the viewers of Shoot ‘N’ Plink, which is only a year old. Of course the 40 year old Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® is tied in with mine, which makes it a little different, but still, these days my shooting videos are receiving more viewers than the fishing. I know the two mentioned have a ton of subscribers, so they may not be touched, or I wouldn’t think they would be. If they are then there is definitely something going on.
It will be interesting to see what happens on the February 20th deadline that You Tube has set, since, as I said, I’m already, and have been in the past, well over the amount of hours required. Guess I just need more subscribers – 200,000 viewers don’t count.
