We all want to be able to catch more fish and as anglers we know healthy, clean habitats produce more fish. The National Fish Habitat Conservation Act was introduced last week in the U.S. Senate and it strengthens a current program, the National Fish Habitat Partnership, by making it law. This effort already contributes to improved river habitats, reservoir enhancements, salt-marsh habitat improvement efforts and other fishery conservation projects across the country.
In 2013 alone, National Fish Habitat Partnership projects opened nearly 200 miles of waterways to fish passage. In total there have been over four hundred projects stretching across 46 states.
Please ask your Senators to support this important piece of legislation.
Healthy habitat = healthy fish populations = better fishing! And we all want better fishing.
