Trail camera expert Gil Lackey will share his insight on capturing game images and tips for the ultimate hunting set up in his educational seminar “Game Cameras from A to Z” during the 2017 DSC Convention and Expo at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Omni Hotel in Dallas Jan. 5-8, 2017. The seminar is one of many informative sessions featuring hunting and conservation experts held throughout the four-day event. Attendees can join any of the hour-long seminars free of charge.
Lackey is an outdoor writer, editor and photographer that specializes in fictional humor, bowhunting and fly fishing, but his greatest expertise lies in trail cameras. He has sold and donated hundreds of his game cam photos to professional publications and conservation organizations. He is the former president of Tennessee Outdoor Writers Association and currently serves as chairman of the board of Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA).
Attendees of Lackey’s seminar will discover how to choose the right camera for their specific needs and learn tips on wildlife photography. Lackey will also share his thoughts on using cameras for security, obtaining high-quality photos of elusive wildlife and which baits work best during each season. The seminar will feature Lackey’s collection of award-winning photos demonstrating the effectiveness of his innovative techniques.
“Whether you’re a novice or expert, game cameras are for everyone, not just hunters,” said Lackey. “I’ve gotten hundreds of thousands of captivating photos of foxes, coyotes and birds of prey just 50 yards behind my house in urban Nashville. I’ll show dozens of tricks nobody has ever shown about helping bag a buck, get better images and capture more eye-popping photos of many different species.”
The expo offers 2017’s first opportunity to shop for hunts with top outfitters from around the globe. Displays also include world-class sporting gear, firearms, art, collectibles, entertainment, seminars, auctions and more. Sportsmen and women are invited to be a part of another record-breaking event to help support conservation, education and hunter advocacy initiatives around the world. The theme this year is Adventure.
Daily admission to the convention is $20 per person, with multi-day and discounted family packages available. Children under 12 and active military (with ID) are free of charge.
