While fishing the Baltic Sea, out of Rugen, Germany, on April 10th, angler Joachim Ochmann caught this 16 kg (35 lb 4 oz) Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) that could earn him the new men’s 6 kg (12 lb) line class record. Ochmann, an experienced light tackle angler, needed 42 minutes to land the quality salmon after it hit the blinker he was trolling. The current IGFA world record is 15.4 kg (33 lb 15 oz).
