This is the time of year that the words “New World’s Record” get tossed around and this year has been no different. Ever wonder what the oldest Boone and Crockett World’s Record is?
The longest standing B&C World’s Record is a Woodland caribou from 1910. This bull was donated to the Club’s National Collection by H. Casimir de Rham and is now on display at the Club’s National Collection of Heads and Horns in the Buffalo Bill Historical Museum in Cody, Wyoming.
The bull scores 419-5/8 and was taken in Newfoundland, Canada. The #2 Woodland was taken in 1951 and scores 405-4/8. The largest scoring bull taken in recent times sits at #4 and was taken from Sam’s Pond, NF in 2005 by James H. Holt. It scores 384-2/8. There are only three Woodland bulls on record that score over 400.
The Woodland is the smallest in antler size of the five sub-species of caribou in North America.
Boone and Crockett has trophy record entries dating back to 1830. The second oldest World’s Record is a bison taken from Yellowstone Park in 1925.
