After shooting some Crosman wadcutter pellets with a Gamo Outdoor USA P900 break barrel pistol, I decided to fire a few rounds of the same brand of pellets, but in the pointed model. The idea was to see if there really is a difference.
I shot both types of the pellets from the 7 yard line (21 feet), at a 5-inch square homemade target, with a 1 3/4″ center. This was placed in a Gamo Outdoor USA pellet trap.
I’ve heard a lot of comments on both sides of the difference in accuracy. I’ve also been told that you should not use the pointed models in some guns.
The pointed model definitely had more shots hit in the 1 3/4″ center, but all of the shots fell within the 5-inch target with both types of pellets. Although several rounds stayed low on the wadcutter, it was still very close. If there was an edge, I would have to say it would be in favor of the pointed since there were more in the center, and most stayed on the middle line, instead of going low.
Until next time, shoot safe and have a great day of plinking.
