A possible world-record setting fish has been caught by a Sparks man. Lou Ferrante reeled in a “spotted bass” this weekend at Bullards Bar Reservoir just north of Nevada City. The spotted bass is considered the smallest of the bass fish — he says the fish was 11.2 pounds when he weighed it at the lake.
But when he took it to a California State certified scale in Truckee, Ferrante said the fish weighted a little less, coming in at 10.95 pounds. Regardless, the current spotted bass world record is just 10.48 pounds.
Ferrante is now sending in pictures of his fish and paperwork to the International Game Fish Association. The agency will either confirm or deny the world record request.
