Australian lure manufacturer Gillies has announced that its iconic Tasmanian Devil brand, which it acquired in December last year, will be available in the US market later this year.
It has agreed an exclusive distribution deal with North American lure giant, PRADCO Outdoor Brands, which will be responsible for its sales from July 1st. The new distribution will be officially launched at ICAST later that month with support from Gillies staff.
Gillies is a long-time distributor of Bomber, Rebel, Arbogast and many other famous PRADCO brands in Australia.
“The Tasmanian Devil has been voted the number one freshwater lure in Australia, and we know PRADCO will ensure it gains equal popularity amongst the freshwater anglers in the USA,” said Pat Levy, Manager Director of Gillies.
Levy and the team from Gillies recently shared a trip in the homeland of the Tasmanian Devil with Bruce Stanton, Vice President and General Manager of PRADCO Fishing. “The Tasmanian Devil is a unique lure that can be used for trolling and casting. While it is most popular with rainbow and brown trout anglers, it can be used for almost any freshwater or saltwater species.
“Bruce and some folks from the PRADCO team were able to see first-hand how this brand is part of Australian culture and how important it is to the staff that manufacture it in the home state of Tasmania,” Levy said.
“We will be supporting all four sizes and the most popular colour range for the Tasmanian Devil series of lures, and we also will be launching a US social media effort to support the brand,” Stanton said. “We will have stock ready to ship before July 1st.”
