The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (MCMR) certified one Mississippi recreational saltwater conventional tackle record during its June 18 meeting. Steve J. Bracknell of Crystal Springs, Miss., broke the state record for Atlantic Sharpnose Shark with a 15-pound, 4.6-ounce fish on May 19, 2013. The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
