Highly invasive lionfish are encountered regularly by divers and spear fishermen, but angler Jason Jones caught this potential All-Tackle record red lionfish (Preroris volitans) on a rod and reel while fishing off Biloxi, Mississippi, USA on February 7th.
Jones was bottom fishing when the fish hit, and quickly reeled in the 0.77 kg (1 lb 11 oz) fish. If approved, the catch will tie the existing world record of 0.74 kg (1 lb 10 oz).
