Scout creates deer blind accessible to disabled hunters

When Department of Natural Resources parks ranger Dana LaFlamme answered the phone at Holly State Recreation Area and took a reservation for one of the park’s cabins, she had no idea this reservation would be the beginning of a very happy experience for the two hunters reserving the cabin.

During the call, one of the hunters indicated he was disabled. After making the reservation and hanging up, park ranger Tony Schutz asked LaFlamme, “Did you tell them about the blind?”  “No, I forgot,” she said.

Schutz was referring to a brand new, accessible deer blind constructed just a few days prior to the opener by Eagle Scout candidate Jay Ammerman of troop 122 from Swartz Creek.   Continue reading more….  Article source thenewsherald.com
