The Sea Tow Foundation announced it is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations, local law enforcement, and government agencies throughout the country who wish to host a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station in their community.
To help promote proper life jacket use, the foundation stocks more than 400 Life Jacket Loaner Stations nationwide, where boaters may borrow life jackets for the day, free of charge.
The Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner program has been funded through donations and grants since its inception in 2008. Since then, more than 40,000 courtesy life jackets have been loaned to boaters through the program. “The Sea Tow Foundation’s Life Jacket Stations save the day for boaters who discover, at the ramp or on the marina dock, that they don’t have enough PFD’s for everyone on board, or need a different size to fit a guest or a child,” said Sea Tow Foundation Executive Director, Michael Wesolowski. “Life jackets save lives, and we are excited to welcome our new 2018 grant applicants into this vital safety program.”
The Sea Tow Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of promoting safe boating practices that directly reduce deaths, injuries and property damage related to recreational boating. Its Life Jacket Loaner Stations are made possible through a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration & Boating Trust Fund, which is administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. Life jacket loaner program applications are being accepted through Jan. 30, 2017.
