Sorting Out The Tackle For Spring

Sorting Out The Tackle For SpringMany of you know that I’ve been working for over the past month trying to sort out and organize my tackle sorting area. While doing so the past couple of days there have been a lot of memories, especially about the days on Bull Shoals Lake out of the Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock.

First big memorie is from the Mr. Bass Lures, which was located in Bull Shoals, AR. This was the company with which I started my fishing career 46 years ago as of May. After which came Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® in the Milan Mirror and MidWest Outdoors Magazine & Television. About the same time, and a little after, I picked up Ryobi, Norman Lures, Tru Turn (now TTI-Blakemore), Bill Lewis Lures/Rat-L-Trap (now Bill Lewis Outdoors), and Skyline Graphite. I’m still with TTI-Blakemore and Bill Lewis Outdoors.

Another memory of Bull Shoals and White River, was finding the waist fold out tackle boxes that my Dad and I used. Also finding the can opener that was in my Dad’s box for which he would use to open cans of Kounty Kist corn that we used to fish for trout. That brought back memories of having to get up at 2:30 in the morning so we could wade out to fish in the river before Bull Shoals Dam would start generating water, and the level would start coming up. One day I was still asleep and forgot to pull up my hip boots. I’ll guarantee that you wake up in a hurry when that cold water of the White pours over the tops of your boots.

I really miss Bull Shoals. Not many people remaining in that area with which I’m acquainted other than Ricky Eastwold, Mike and Dianne Roller, Mike Hodges, Forrest Wood, George Liddle and the lovely Susan Talarsky Beck.

Well, back to working on my mess, and finding more items to trigger more memories.
