Using only 2 kg (4 lb) line, Linda McKenzie skillfully played this potential world records snapper (squirefish) (Pagrus auratus) for nearly an hour before she finally landed the 9.22 kg (20 lb 5 oz) fish. McKenzie was fishing with Capt. Jim Powell on February 23rd off Rangiputa, New Zealand when the squirefish hit the ballyhoo she was using for bait. If approved, McKenzie’s fish will become the new women’s 2 kg (4 lb) line class record, which currently stands at 9.06 kg (19 lb 15 oz).
