Eriksson’s Atlantic Cod -While fishing off Soroya, Norway on March 13th with guide Johann Mikkelsen, angler Marica Eriksson potentially broke the women’s 37 kg (80 lb) line class world record for Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) with this massive 38 kg (83 lb 11 oz) specimen. Eriksson battled the huge cod for several minutes after it crushed the jig she was fishing. If approved, the catch will not only replace the current record of 37.08 kg (81 lb 12 oz), but it will also be the third heaviest on record with the IGFA.

Hart’s Speckled Peacock -Using only 1 kg (2 lb) tippet, light tackle fly angler Richard Hart was able to successfully catch and release this 4.3 kg (9 lb 8 oz) speckled peacock after a fight that lasted more than 30 minutes. Hart was fishing Colombia’s famed Rio Orinoco, and caught this potential men’s 1 kg (2 lb) tippet class record on February 23, 2016. The current IGFA world record is 3.85 kg (8 lb 8 oz).
