Fishing is a numbers game for Bryan Thrift, and the numbers are clearly in his favor. Thrift’s fishing style is to hit as many spots as possible in a given day to try and put his lure in front of as many active fish as possible. Often, it’s two or three casts before he’s on to the next spot. Obviously, his style works, as he used it over the weekend for his fourth career FLW Tour victory – this one at Lake Eufaula.

This is not Thrift’s first time atop the Pro Ranking, as he was also No. 1 going into the 2014 season. He certainly had another solid year last year, but Andy Morgan’s back-to-back Angler of the Year seasons pushed him above Thrift, who had resided at No. 2 since midway through 2014. Morgan finished 39th at Eufaula – hardly a bad finish – but that did slightly hurt his average, allowing Thrift to ride his win to again retake the No. 1 spot. Continue reading
