Leading electric outboard manufacturer Torqeedo has announced the introduction of TorqTrac, a smartphone app which greatly enhances the Torqeedo motors’ user experience. The renowned leader in marine innovation is continuing its drive toward the cutting edge with the introduction of a first-of-its-kind smartphone app that connects to an electric outboard via Bluetooth and delivers a dashboard of useful telemetry. TorqTrac is compatible with iOS and Android.
The app clearly arranges motor data such as speed and power consumption using a stunning multi-screen user interface. This intelligent system displays a map of a user’s current location with a real-time range indicator, so users always know exactly where they are and how far they can travel at their current speed. TorqTrac also allows users to plan their waypoints and estimates how switching to electric has reduced their emissions and fossil-fuel use.
“Driving innovation is what we do at Torqeedo. On the heels of three new products, we are introducing TorqTrac, which augments our existing lineup. Our product development team is doing an astounding job to keep us positioned as not only an innovator, but as an industry-leading company. With technology developing at the pace it is today, it makes a lot of sense to expand on our already successful products,” said Steve Trkla, president of Torqeedo Inc.
The app will launch in spring of 2014 and will be compatible with Torqeedo Ultralight, Travel 503/1003 and Cruise R/T models. TorqTrac’s Bluetooth 4 connector will be available through Torqeedo’s extensive dealer network across North America.
