Who IS Recycled Fish?

Recycled Fish LogoOur Mission: Recycled Fish is the non-profit organization of anglers living a lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the water because our lifestyle runs downstream. Who We Are: Recycled Fish is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that started out talking about Catch and Release, but it’s bigger than that now. We’re a national movement of anglers who live and promote a lifestyle of stewardship both on and off the water.

We’re doing stuff like putting in low flow shower heads and changing how we care for our lawns, because that stuff matters to fisheries as much or more than catch and release.

If we want more and bigger fish in our waters, now and for our kids, the choices we make every day matter because our lifestyle runs downstream.

How You Can Help: Start living a Lifestyle of Stewardship

  •     Do you have low-flow shower heads, faucets and toilet?
  •     Is there a water heater blanket on your water heater?
  •     Do you limit watering your lawn, and use no fertilizer or phosphate-free organic fertilizer?
  •     Have you made the switch to CFL light bulbs?
  •     What kind of car or truck do you drive? Is it the most fuel efficient possible?
  •     Do you limit driving by carpooling, making multi-purpose trips, and walking or biking when possible?
  •     Do you keep your tires inflated, air filter changed regularly, and other tactics to maximize fuel efficiency?
  •     Are you recycling your paper, plastic, glass and aluminum?
  •     Are you recycling at home and at work?
  •     Do you buy local or organic produce when possible?
  •     Does your energy company offer “green” energy that you can select?
  •     Do you give time, money, or lend other resources to help local conservation groups?
  •     Do you ever clean up other people’s trash when you go fishing?
  •     You’d never leave a ball of fishing line on shore, but are you vigilant about cleaning it up when you find it?
  •     Are you practicing S.A.F.E. Angling tactics like lead-free weights, and biodegradable molded baits?
  •     Do you practice catch and release and selective harvest faithfully and responsibly?
  •     Are you making sure to wash your boat or waders between bodies of water so you don’t transport aquatic invasive species like zebra mussels, milfoil, and whirling disease?
  •     Take the Sportsman’s Stewardship Pledge and join Recycled Fish and help sustain our resources.
  •     Sign Up to receive our Stewardship Tips emails.
  •     Offer your financial or in-kind resources to support Recycled Fish.
  •     Volunteer to help Recycled Fish at an event in your area or with some of the many tasks associated with the organization.
