WSF is pleased to announce the addition of Ryan Brock, from Reno, Nevada to the WSF staff team in the position of WSF Youth Education Coordinator. Ryan is a Ph.D. educator who has a passion for the outdoors and outdoor education. Ryan is a hunter, shooter, family man and a current elementary school educator in Reno with the Washoe County School District (WCSD.) Ryan will be coordinating the Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience (YWCE) education program during our annual conventions in Reno and will work remotely for WSF from his Reno base while remaining on staff with the WCSD. Ryan will also lead our new chapter and affiliate education initiative “Shooting, Hunting, Ethics, Education Program” (S.H.E.E.P.) throughout our North American chapter & affiliate network to get youth outdoors and introduce them to the traditional shooting, hunting, angling and outdoor sports.
Ryan’s position and the WSF youth education program is generously underwritten and sponsored by a grant from MidwayUSA founders, Larry and Brenda Potterfield, who are unmatched leaders in the shooting sports industry and a visionary patrons of many industry organizations. The Potterfields also conceived the Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience (YWCE) concept in 2011 and WSF and other industry organizations conducted inaugural YWCE events during the 2012 convention season introducing thousands of young men and women to the outdoors, conservation, wildlife and the shooting sports during their annual events.
