Winter Bass With Tail Spinners

Winter Bass With Tail SpinnersWFN Has A Nice Tip To Share! A tail spinner can be fished all year in every season, summer, fall, winter and spring. The tail spinners were very popular as Mann’s Little George dominated in the sixties and into the  seventies but like many other classic lures their appeal to anglers diminished as new baits flooded the marker as recreational bass fishing gained popularity. The bass, however never gave up on them, and to the anglers that still use them they are still a go to bait for many conditions. Mann’s Bait Company still makes and sells many of their legendary of Little George that is believed to be the largest-selling metal bass lure in history.  Interest in this bait comes and goes every few years as other manufactures produce similar baits. Their innovative “bottom hopping” design suits a variety of presentations in the upper water column, the middle or on the bottom controlled by the speed of the retrieve. The rotation of the blade on tail spinner entices bites from larger bass.

Using electronics and contour maps helps greatly for locating bait and fish relating to structure. Just cast the tail spinner and let it fall around deep structure or isolated submerged wood, so that it imitates a dying bait fish. Lethargic cold water bass that are suspended nearby can’t resist. When fished on eight to ten lb. test fluorocarbon you will find that it is sensitive and it sinks fast into the strike zone. Fish these baits around deep structure such as ledges, humps, drop offs, and points that fall into deep water. If the fish are relating to the bottom, cast the lure toward the shallow water of a steep bank and allow the lure to sink to the bottom keeping tension on the line as it flutters downward.  Once it reaches the structure, slowly retrieve the lure a few feet and then allow it flutter back down once again on a tight line. Continue to repeat this cadence all the way back to the boat.Continue reading this article at this LINK….. See more at: http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/tips/post/winter-bass-with-tail-spinners
